Embrace

I on occasion write poems, paint, or write a song. i wanted to share some of those, so tonight i thought my favorite poem would suffice. Its called Embrace.

I want to bust the world wide open the way you do when you're filled with youth
I want to remember it all and share my lessons
I want to engaged with people and lovers
I want to find solid ground
I want to be physical and I also want to ask the big questions
I want to taste the tastes and fix the problems
I want to help you believe you can go on long after you think you can’t
I want to be a test, a sacrifice, a battlefield
I want to call forth the power of every god, goddess, and demon for strength
I want to Let It Be
I want to run headlong into chaos, fun, darkness, and laughter
I want to be the best friend and the most honest honorable daughter
I want to make a bed of the moment and live it
I want to be the mystery in the room
I want to be magic
I want to be known.

Hillary's Book Club

As some of you may know I love to read and enjoy sharing my latest book. So every so often i plan to use this blog to give book reviews. As a friend of mine reminded me of my childhood friend the Reading Rainbow. So come along with me Take a Look....Its in a Book...

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change to extremes but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. The winner has to kill the other opponents to win the game. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.

It makes you think on what reality TV couldn't be one day. Suzanne never mentions a date so it could be at any time you choose. This book is the beginning of a Trilogy so it ends with a nice cliff hanger i wasn't ready for. This book is nonstop action/violence. This would be a great movie. I would like to see the movie makers keep this PG-13. I hope you all pick up a copy.

Requests

I have gotten a couple of requests for me to put some pictures of some people. So i decided that I am going to put up some of my favorite pictures of people and places i love!! Enjoy!!!

A New Dawn

"Personal affection is a luxury you can have only after all your enemies are eliminated. Until then, everyone you love is a hostage, sapping your courage, and corrupting your judgement."
~Orson Scott Card

This is a quote from one of my favorite books. To break this down a bit in my mind i see it saying when you hold grudges, hate, and pain of the past you hold yourself back. Everything is impaired because your judgment is altered and your heart if full of conflict. I have taken this quote to heart and opened my heart again to the possiblitly of change. i know i have alreday said i feel blessed but as i look at my life and all the wounderful poeple i get to share it with, i realized i cant say it enough. As this new year is upon us, i believe we could all learn a lesson in the art of letting go. Some may say its forgiveness, or it only hurts yourself to hold on, or just being stubborn. Either way its a new year, a new beginning. Now let us all raise our glasses in a toast to the new year and new hearts!!!

Marley & Me

I just saw the movie Marley and Me. I don't know about you but i am an animal lover to the very core of me. i loved this movie. i didn't Read the book, nor any of the authors columns but it was great. Made you laugh, cry, and want a puppy!! At the end of the movie there is a voice over where the owner says "a dog doesn't care if your rich or poor. if you give him your heart he will give you his. a dog make you feel extraordinary." i think that's a true statement with any animal. I fully recommend this movie to anyone. Its PG so everyone can see it. I now send my love to every ones animal who has ever gave their master love!!
